Tumblr Finds

Let’s face it, would you rather read a Tumblr photo blog or a Biology text book? It’s pretty much a no brainer… If you’re ever looking for some way to relax (or procrastinate) this is the way to do it! Although I sometimes spend hours (oops did I just admit that) on these photo journals, I always close my computer lid with a smile. The endless pictures, quotes, and gifs are a “spoonful of sugar” for gray day. Next time you need some inspiration just refer to Tumblr, the never ending slideshow of heartening photos.

High School Fall Camp

Since 9th grade has started life has for sure been a whirlwind.  The high school fall camp was about 2 weeks ago and although my team only got 6th place out of 10 teams, we had a blast. It started with the whole high school leaving on a 6 hour bus ride to the camp site, yes the bus ride was so long and boring, but I was thankful to spend some catch-up time with Jessie. 

By the time we got to the site it was dinner time so we didn’t do many activities except for a night game. The next day we played a lot of team games and performed our team skit in the evening. Personally, I had the most fun on this day because the games were fun and the skit went great. Finally, the third day we packed up and bussed all the way back to TIS (our school). Although fall camp seemed to go by way too fast the time we did have together as a high school was great.   Here’s a photo of me with my team (I played an old lady in the skit, thus the greyish hair color).

I’m Lovin’… Turquoise

Connecting Four has become very real and important to me lately. With Michael’s passion and work on it over the summer as my foundation, and the blog office renovations coming along (see Office Project) I am feeling more determined than ever to whip posts out. Although school has been a lot to handle, balancing my time between academics and blogging has been a good challenge and learning experience for me.

This week I was inspired to pick a more unique color, rather than the generic “red, blue, orange or green.” The first color that came to mind was turquoise. At first I was going to add a beach theme into the mix (notice the fish-painted plate and earrings), but as you can see it then evolved into this! I think I’m learning because this post didn’t take me long to create which is surprising as it normally take me quite a while to finish these kinds of posts (I know… it’s lame). I hope I will be as inspired to work this hard next week as I was today!

I’m Lovin’…Yellow

Summer is flying by pretty fast yet as the days shorten and cold months crawl in, the color yellow remains vivid in my mind. The thoughts of lemonade, the big bright sun, and playful yellow finch’s come to my mind alongside memories of my summer in America. I miss Crab Hunting with cousins, Family dinners at grandpa and grandmas, late night conversations with my favorite aunts, and most of all, all the loving  hugs I got from the most important people. Returning home to visit family and friends was such a blessing and I will cherish the times I spent with them. I miss you guys!

I’ve decided to start a Color Collection starting with (obviously) yellow.

I’m Lovin’… Baked Bree

As I began to write this post on Baked Bree, a cooking blog, I discovered so much more about the author and her personal blog Bree Hester. I also found out that she has created her very own cookbook. As I learned more and more about this blog I believe that Baked Bree is one of my favorite sources to find new recipes. She explains things so well and her layout is super helpful for anyone who needs some helpful steps along the way. One of my personal favorite dishes from this particular blog are the chicken skewers, I’ve made them about 3 or 4 times and they have always turned out delicious! I definitely recommend this blog for any of you cookers out there needing a fresh recipe to try out. From the whole experience of  searching out this blog I learned a lesson, I need to research more about the backgrounds of blogs the author, their life, type of blog, etc.

I’m Lovin’… Anything Vintage

Today was the first day back to school after 5 weeks of break. And to be frank I hated it! It was so tiring and long…But I got through the day alright.

As of late I have been obsessing over anything vintage. All the blogs I visited that posted about something vintage inspired me more and more to make a post of my own that en captures the beauty of vintage style. So I did it! 1: Vintage clothing in my opinion is too adorable although I don’t have many vintage articles in my closet right now I’m planning to hunt for some this summer while in America. 2: Vintage Adds, it has taken me a while to find some good sites to find vintage adds but I did and I love them (Found in Mom’s Basement & Captain Geoffrey Spaulding’s Photostream on Flickr). 3: Vintage Electronics, when I think of vintage electronics 3 things pop into my mind are vintage cameras, vintage typewriters, and vintage telephones. 4: Vintage Luggage, I was browsing over pinterest for vintage pics and I noticed that there were many pictures of vintage suitcases and luggage so I decided to add a photo of some cute suitcases stacked on each other. Well that’s all for now folks!

Dream House #2

I was browsing over the blog this week and came across my previous Dream House post and decided to create another…

My family moved earlier this year during spring break and although moving over a vacation is never appealing, at least it inspired me to write this post! I found it very difficult to have a relaxing break when boxes lay strewn across the ground, cleaning had to be done, and tasks of organization awaited us around every corner. However the memories Jessie and I made during this time are priceless. Although even now 5 months later we are still hanging pictures and finding places for “stuff” to go, I believe we had a successful move this year and I am quite proud of our efforts. I used the same resources as last time (fresh home) but this time I decided to pick a theme for the “dream house”. Doesn’t “scenic rural dream” sound enticing?! Check out these two houses that I combined keeping this theme in mind.

I love how the floors of both houses are so gorgeous, they match the rural theme so well.

The Barn

I remember going down to my grandparent’s barn to clean out the horse’s stalls and although it was a dirty job I loved being around the horses and the country feeling. Everywhere you look is a story, from the Exxon sign to the hanging horse shoes. As the years have gone by the barn has grown older and dirtier but I will never grow tired of this beautiful place. I hope the memories of this place never fade away!

A Little Bit of China.

While We were on errands around our neighborhood a few days ago we came across this small vender selling some traditional Chinese Flat Bread. Since so many people were waiting for this toasty snack we figured it must be good. So we “placed” our order, paid about 20¢, and enjoyed this salty treat on our way back home!

Living in China leaves you with so many new experiences, discovering new foods is one of the major adventures I have found while living here. You can buy flat bread, fruit, popcorn, or even Cotten Candy while walking down the road on a nice evening. I have gotten to discover so much from living in China, it is definitely a blessing being able to live in this foreign place.

Finals Week

The dreaded week of final exams has begun. Final Exams week is almost here and I’m sure everyone will agree that the weekend before the “battle” is always the worst. I woke up somewhat late this Saturday morning and started studying. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought that I only have to get past these 4 days of torture and then I’ll be on my way to America! Family, good food, green grass, outdoor swimming pools… the list is endless! There are no words to express just how excited I am to see my relatives as well.  But for now, I better stop thinking about that and start focusing on school work… Wish me luck on my finals!
